Dubai World Cup

The Dubai World Cup is a highly anticipated annual event that brings together the world’s best thoroughbred horses and jockeys.

On Saturday, 25 March 2023, the glittering end-of-season finale to the Dubai World Cup Carnival will bring weeks of high-intensity racing to a close. The Dubai World Cup was launched by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in 1996 at Nad Al Sheba Racecourse, but has been held at Meydan since 2006. The first-ever race winner was the famous Cigar, a US-trained horse ridden by jockey Jerry Bailey. Last year’s race was won by Country Grammer under Frankie Dettori for American trainer Bob Baffert. After winning the Dubai World Cup four times, Italian jockey Dettori now joins Bailey as joint winningmost jockey of the race.

An impressive prize of USD 30.5 million is divided across the nine races on World Cup Day, with the big race offering a purse of USD 12 million, making it one of the richest days of horseracing in the world. The evening culminates in the Dubai World Cup and boasts the highest prize fund of the night at USD 12 million.

The Dubai World Cup is much more than just a horse race, is also a celebration of luxury, glamour, and entertainment. It features a variety of high-end fashion and millinery shows, live music performances, and gourmet food and beverages. It is the ideal opportunity for horse racing fans to revel in the sport while enjoying the highest levels of opulence and entertainment.

This event is celebrated as one of the pinnacles of equestrian excellence. Whether you’re a horse racing enthusiast or simply looking to experience one of the world’s most prestigious sporting events, the Dubai World Cup is an experience you won’t want to miss.

Racegoers attending the Dubai World Cup have the opportunity of sampling something different this year when the iconic Sky Bubble hosts a sumptuous Iftar once the sun sets on 25 March 2023. Offering panoramic views of the racetrack and stunning Dubai skyline, the Sky Bubble is the highest point on Meydan Racecourse, looking down over the pulsating action. This unique venue will celebrate the Holy Month of Ramadan for the first time, with a five-star buffet on offer after the breaking of the fast is observed.
