From May 19th to 21st, 2023, the international community will convene in Hiroshima, Japan, for the G7 Summit. If you are planning to attending the summit and desire an efficient mode of transportation, flying to Hiroshima by business jet is the optimal choice.

Visa

Visa requirements may vary depending on nationality and duration of stay. Find out if you need a visa here. As a government official attending the G7 Summit, you may be eligible for special diplomatic or official visas. Coordinate with your country’s embassy or consulate in Japan to understand the visa requirements and process for government officials attending the summit.

Airports

Hiroshima Airport (HIJ/RJOA)

The primary airport serving Hiroshima is Hiroshima Airport, located approximately 50 kilometers east of the city center and takes 55 minutes travel time from central Hiroshima.

There are restrictions between 17 to 23 May, 2023. RJOA is closed except for government state/chartered flights arranged through diplomatic channels.

RJOA operating hours run from 07:30 to 22:30 LT. Slots are required for all arrivals and departures. No PPR is required.

Kansai International Airport (KIX/RJBB)

The approximate distance between Kansai International Airport (RJBB) and central Hiroshima city is 375 kilometers (233 miles) by road or rail. If you choose to travel by the Shinkansen bullet train, the journey time from Hiroshima Station to Shin-Osaka Station, the nearest Shinkansen station to Kansai International Airport, is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.

RJBB operates around the clock, offering continuous service with 24/7 customs, immigration, and quarantine (CIQ) facilities. Slots are required for arrival and departure. Slot tolerance at RJBB is between 00-59 of each hour. No PPR is required.

Between 17 and 24 May 2023, due to overnight parking arrangements for government state/chartered flights at RJBB:

  • The potential for general aviation (GA) operations at RJBB during this period will be confirmed closer to the start date, allowing for timely planning.
  • Based on parking availability, there may be occasional relocations of aircraft to different parking positions.
