Get ready to experience one of the world’s largest and most impressive aviation displays, as Dubai Airshow 2017 takes off in the United Arab Emirates. Running from November 12 – 16, the event brings together professionals from all facets of the aerospace industry to explore the latest developments and help facilitate successful global trade.
The Dubai Airshow is considered the fastest-growing aviation event in the world, and with good reason. The show began life in 1986 under the name Arab Air, and was rebranded as Dubai Airshow in 1989. Since then it has gone from strength to strength, and evolved into one of the world’s key aerospace exhibitions. Held bi-annually, the event showcases the latest developments in military, general and commercial aviation, in addition to providing a valuable platform for aircraft manufacturers and service providers to do business. Attendees can explore the extensive exhibition arena, view the hottest new aircraft in the static display, and enjoy a series of breathtaking aerial demonstrations.
The 2013 edition famously saw the biggest-ever order book taken at an airshow, with deals worth more than US$200 billion signed over the course of the five-day gathering. This total was boosted by the largest commercial aircraft purchase in history, with Emirates Airlines spending US$99 billion on expanding its fleet of Boeing 777Xs and Airbus A380s. This record-breaking performance reflected the MENA region’s growing importance on the global stage, and helped to cement Dubai’s reputation as a next-generation aerospace hub.
The last Dubai Airshow in 2015 was the biggest and best to date. The numbers speak for themselves; 1,103 exhibitors took part from more than 60 countries, over 130 aircraft were on display, and the event generated orders in excess of $37 billion. The show attracted over 66,000 trade visitors, with extensive international coverage provided by around 1,300 media personnel. This year’s event promises several new features, including:
UAS Summit: Industry experts will host a series of conference sessions dedicated to unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), including flight displays and demonstrations.
Space Pavilion: Initiated in support of the government’s strategic objectives of developing region’s space sector, the Space Pavilion will host a two-day forum.
Cargo Zone: The Cargo Zone will bring together suppliers from the air cargo supply chain to discuss trends and shape the future direction of the industry.
Airport Solutions: Airport Solutions offers an exhibition area dedicated to the full spectrum of the airport industry, together with a high-level conference.
These will join the returning Gulf Aviation Training Event (GATE) and Futures Day features, which are designed to encourage young people to explore career options within the region’s aerospace industry through a series of seminars, talks and interactive sessions.
The exhibitors list for the show reads like a who’s who of the aerospace industry, with practically every major player represented.
