Marseille is one of the most visited cities in France. Its stunning beaches and rich history attracted 4.1 million visitors in 2012. With over 300 days of sunshine, Marseille is also the warmest city in France. Although the climate is pleasant all year round, the months of June and July are considered the best time to visit.
As the oldest city in France, Marseille has a wealth of museums, galleries and ancient structures. The most important museums include Musée des Docks Romains, Musée du Vieux Marseille, Musée Grobet-Labadié, 19th century Palais Longchamp, Château Borély and the MuCEM. Iconic landmarks within central Marseille include the Old Port or Vieux-Port, La Vieille Charité, Cathedral of Sainte-Marie-Majeure, 17th century Hôtel de Ville (city hall) and the 12th century Parish Church of Saint-Laurent. The Abbey of Saint-Victor is one of the oldest places of Christian worship in Europe.

Airport Information
Marseille Provence Airport (IATA: MRS, ICAO: LFML) is the 5th busiest French airport by passenger movements, and 3rd largest for Cargo. The airport is located is located 27km northwest of Marseille (around 30 to 60 minutes away, depending on traffic). LFML is an Airport of Entry (AOE) with customs and immigrations available 24/7.
Landing Permits
Charter operations to LMFL require a landing permit. For private non-revenue operators, permits are not compulsory. Permits can be arranged on short notice if an aircraft parking stand is confirmed. For noisy aircraft, a suitable noise certificate must be provided. An airport curfew is applied on noisy aircraft between 22:00 and 06:00 local time.
PPR and Slots
Prior Permission Required (PPR) is necessary for certain airports in France, and is usually dependent on parking availability. At Marseille Provence Airport, PPR and slot bookings are only required during special events, such as the Cannes Film Festival, Grand Prix de Monaco and Grand Prix du Castellet. Apron booking will not be completed until an official handling request has been sent. Long term parking is only accessible during the daytime, between sunrise and sunset. Generally, all permits and bookings can be arranged within short notice. However during special events, a minimum 24 hours prior notice is requested.
Ground Handling Services / Helicopter Transfers
Marseille airport is fully equipped with all ground handling services. Although there are no helicopter charter companies based in LFML, transfers can still be arranged if required.
