Operating to Kuwait

Landing Permits

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) requires landing permits for all operations to Kuwait. The landing permit can be arranged within 72 hours. Once issued, the landing permit will be valid for 24 hours from the estimated time of arrival. If there is any change to the flight schedule, DGCA will need to be informed. A revised permit request may be required in certain cases. In order to obtain a Kuwait landing permit, it is necessary to provide local sponsor contact details, entry and exit points, and crew/pax details.

Kuwait International Airport

Kuwait International Airport (IATA: KWI, ICAO: OKBK) is the only airport that caters to general aviation in the country. The airport is located about 16 kilometers south of Kuwait City. In 2015, Kuwait International Airport served more than 11 million passengers.

OKBK offers Airport of Entry 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Prior airport slot booking is not required. Availability of aircraft parking slots is always subject to approval, upon sending an official request to the handler. Note that OKBK is a congested airport. If parking is not available, the landing permit may be denied.

The airport is fully-equipped to provide all ground handling services, including a passenger lounge. Crew can use the terminal lounge if required (there is no crew lounge available on the general aviation side). Crew can enter Kuwait through General Declaration holding a valid crew ID and valid passport.
